Saint Sour Church

The architectural complex was originally an abbey. After widespread degradation, several reconstruction projects were undertaken. Take your time and enjoy the rosettes and stained-glass windows, including those that recall Saint Sour’s legend.

 

Cluzeaux

Several cluzeaux (artificial caves or rock shelters) around the ancient city are open for visit (for free). Cluzeaux are full of mystery and charm: were they dug to protect the population during Viking invasions? … or maybe as a pantry?…

The Square of Conventionnel Bouquier

Gabriel Bouquier was part of the Third State which voted for the death of Louis XVI. His house, listed as a Historic Monument with its Renaissance façade, sits at the foot of the abbey. The Square of Conventionnel Bouquier is the central place of the ancient city and home to various concerts and the Video Mapping in summer.

Traditional market

The traditional market is held every Thursday morning all-year-round around the Vézère’s basin. From December to March, goose and truffle markets are underway at the Vitrine de Périgord.

    Numerous hiking and walking tours are possible. Tours available for all levels.
  • Bicycle tours : discover nearby tours.
  • Horseback riding : many trails and routes nearby.
    Contact the EQUI LIBERTE association for horse riding.
  • Zipline, tree climbing, paintball, via ferrata to the “Foret des écureuils“.
  • Would you like to see nature from above ? With Rêve parapente : flights are made on the Dordogne area because winds in the Vézère valley tend to be too weak. Departures available from Souillac or Martel.
